Hi, Dr Linda here from Sunbury Dentist, which is part of the Dental House Group.
If you’ve been dealing with discomfort, swelling, or even crowding from your wisdom teeth, you might be wondering if they need to come out. Let me explain how the process works and why removing them could be the right solution.
- First, we start with a proper consultation.
We’ll take a good look at your mouth, usually with the help of digital X-rays or 3D scans, so we can see exactly where your wisdom teeth are sitting and whether they’re causing, or if they’re gonna cause any trouble. This helps us plan the best and safest way to remove them. - Next comes the removal itself.
Depending on your case, we might use local anaesthetic, happy gas, IV sedation, or even general anaesthesia if you’d like to be fully asleep. Our job is to make sure you’re comfortable and that you don’t feel a thing at all. It usually takes less time than most people expect, so you’ll be done before you know it! - After that, it’s all about recovery.
You may have some swelling or discomfort for the first few days, but don’t worry! We’ll provide all the right advice and medication to help manage it. Simple things like using ice packs, sticking to soft foods, and resting will make your recovery much, much smoother.
Most patients are surprised by how quickly they bounce back! You will probably feel much better within a week or so!
So, if you’re unsure about whether you need your wisdom teeth removed, or just want to know more about what’s involved, feel free to call us! Or complete the form on the website, and we’ll help you organise your consultation. We’d love to chat and help you feel confident about the whole process.
